The Citroën Spacetourer Monterey 6 is a practical and versatile internal transfer Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV), designed to help wheelchair users transfer comfortably into the driver’s seat without having to transfer outside the vehicle. It works differently from a drive-from-wheelchair car: you board and travel in your own wheelchair, then move across into a standard, fully adjustable driver’s seat to drive.
Access is simple and convenient. At the touch of a button on the key fob, the powered rear tailgate and access ramp open automatically, allowing you to enter the vehicle in your wheelchair. Once inside, another touch closes the ramp and tailgate behind you, ready for you to transfer into the driver’s seat.
At the heart of the Monterey 6 is its six-way powered transfer seat. The seat moves forwards, backwards, up and down, as well as rotating to help you find a comfortable position for transferring from your wheelchair. Once seated, the controls let you set your driving position to suit you, and your wheelchair is stowed and restrained behind you for the journey.
With 56″ (1440 mm) of interior headroom, the Monterey 6 gives you generous space to manoeuvre inside the vehicle rather than alongside it in a car park. Flexible seating allows for three to five seated passengers, so the vehicle still works for family journeys, and the same rear position carries a wheelchair passenger when somebody else is driving.

The Monterey 6 offers a generous range of comfort and technology, including cruise control, a 10″ touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, twin sliding side doors and rear parking sensors. Max models add electric sliding doors, dual-zone climate control, a parking camera, leather seats and electric front seats.
Powered by a 2.0 BlueHDi 180 engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the Monterey 6 combines independent wheelchair access, easier internal transfer and everyday driving comfort in one highly versatile vehicle.
Every Monterey 6 is built at our own workshops in Devon, where GM Coachwork has been converting wheelchair accessible vehicles since 1988. Wheelchair access and dimensions
In the Monterey 6 you board at the rear in your own wheelchair, so the ramp and the entrance are what decide whether the vehicle suits you, more than the travelling position does. Like all the wheelchair accessible vehicles we build, the Monterey 6 starts with a lowered floor, and that is what gives you 56″ (1440 mm) of headroom to move around inside.
When you are driving, your wheelchair travels unoccupied and restrained behind you. When somebody else is driving, that same position carries a wheelchair passenger, in the same way as our rear-entry passenger WAVs, so the travelling position figures below matter as well.
Check the entrance and the ramp against your own chair, and the ramp’s 350 kg safe working load against the chair’s weight with you in it. Anything close is a reason to book a home demonstration.

Outside, the Monterey 6 is 4959 mm long, 1920 mm wide excluding mirrors and 1890 mm high. The height clears most public car park barriers, and the length is worth measuring against a garage or a short driveway before you commit.
